Healthcare Management Curriculum

The time it takes to earn a degree will vary based on factors such as dual enrollment, remediation, and summer enrollment. Students meet with an academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their progress.

Applicants would be eligible for admission if they qualify under one of the following scenarios:

  • Bachelor's degree* with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Graduate degree*
  • Bachelor's degree* with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 - 2.99
    • Regular Admission with documentation** of one of the  following:
      • 5 years of managerial work experience
      • an active healthcare provider license
      • recognized professional certification
    • Probationary Admission otherwise. They will need to complete the first 9 graduate credit hours with grades of B or better.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor's degree* cumulative GPA under 2.50 may be considered for Probationary Admission with additional documentation** demonstrating the applicant's preparation for graduate school.

*Degrees earned from a U.S.A. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent.   
**Decisions about admission based upon the evaluation of a resume, a healthcare provider license, professional certification, or additional documentation would be made at the discretion of the Director of Graduate Business Studies.  The healthcare provider license should be something like nursing, pharmacist, etc. that has recognized standards and requires continuing education.  Examples of professional certifications include PMI Project Management, Six Sigma Green Belt, SHRM Certified Professional, Charter Financial Analyst, Certified Financial Planner, Certified Scrum Master, etc.

Prerequisite Courses+:

  • Principles of Management (MG 301) 
  • QM 257 Business Analytics I or BA 601 Graduate Business Statistics Essentials
  • Management Information Systems (MI 375/BA 605) (required only for informatics option)

+ SEMO Courses or equivalent courses from another regionally accredited or foreign equivalent institution.  Three or more years of managerial work experience with a significant level of responsibility may be accepted towards MG 301 – Provide a current resume for evaluation.

The accelerated Master of Science in Healthcare Management degree program allows undergraduate students to take up to 12 hours of classes in their senior year to count for both undergraduate credit and graduate credit. 

Hours taken for a graduate certificate may also be applied to the MS in Healthcare Management. 

Program Requirements: 

  • Junior standing with at least 75 credit hours completed 
  • Maximum of 12 credit hours, not to exceed 6 credit hours per semester, (500 level courses) 
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.25 
  • Submit formal application
