College Access Partnership Award

College Access Partnership Award (CAP-A) is available to first-year students who have participated in a designated College Access Partnership program or Scholarship Organization/Foundation.

Eligibility

This award is automatically renewed. Renewal of the award is contingent upon availability of funds. Renewal is based on the following

  • Successful completion of a designated College Access Partner Program or receive funding/scholarship from a designated Foundation or Organization Partner.
  • A letter of recommendation from the Partner Program, Foundation or Organization.
  • High school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or above.
  • First generation college student and/or Pell grant eligible.
  • Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Renewal

This award is automatically renewed. Renewal of the award is contingent upon availability of funds. Renewal is based on the following

  • Maintaining a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester during your first semesters of Southeast enrollment, and 15 credit hours per semester during the remaining semesters.
  • Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1st each year and completing any verification requests from the university.
  • Remaining in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Complete the requirements of the Academic Support Centers contract each year.
  • A committee may be appointed to review award renewals, reductions and appeals.

Value: Range from $500-2,000 per year ($250-1,000 per semester)

Other Awards

The Matching Success Award is a need-based award available to new beginning freshmen, new entering transfers and returning students with fewer than 60 credit hours.

Eligibility

  • Open to members of ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • A college or high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or higher.
  • An ACT score of 21 or higher for high school applicants.
  • Demonstrated financial need as documented on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA).
  • Full Admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Renewal

  • Maintaining a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester during your first semesters of Southeast enrollment, and 15 credit hours per semester during the remaining semesters.
  • Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1st each year and completing any verification requests from the university.
  • Remaining in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Complete the requirements of the Academic Support Centers contract each year.

Value: Up to $2,000.00 per year ($1,000.00 per semester)

MERIT is a performance-based award available to new beginning freshmen, new entering transfers and returning students with fewer than 60 credit hours.

Eligibility

  • Open to members of ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • A college or high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or above.
  • An ACT score of 23 or above for high school applicants.
  • Documented participation in leadership and community service activities.
  • Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Renewal

  • Maintaining a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
  • Completion of a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester during your first semesters of Southeast enrollment, and 15 credit hours per semester during the remaining semesters.
  • Filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1st each year and completing any verification requests from the university.
  • Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Complete the requirements of the Academic Support Centers contract each year.
  • A committee may be appointed to review award renewals, reductions and appeals.

Value: Up to $2,400.00 per year ($1,200.00 per semester)

  • The Dr. King Scholarship is awarded to a first-year student at Southeast Missouri State University who is enrolled full-time and has not received a University Merit Scholarship.
  • Financial need and academic achievement play an important role in the selection process.
  • Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application. A student initially receives this award for one semester.
  • The recipient must complete the fall semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 2.7 GPA in order to renew for the spring semester.

This award is presented annually to recognize an incoming freshman in the St. Louis area who has demonstrated the potential for academic achievement, leadership and commitment to their community.

Eligibility 

  • High School grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above and 
  • ACT score of 25 or higher 
  • Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University 
  • Pell Grant Eligible 
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Must remain active in Academic Support Center events and activities 

Renewal 

  • The Dr. Donald M Suggs Scholarship is renewable for three additional academic years with a 3.5 cumulative Southeast GPA and completion of 30 Southeast credit hours annually. 
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 each year 
  • The funding provided can result in a reduction in loan debt and may be adjusted if combined with the other aid 
  • Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Must remain active in Academic Support Center events and activities 

Value: Up to full tuition plus $1,000 to cover other educational expenses
