We highly encourage you to submit your application for admission by Dec. 15 to take advantage of scholarships and early enrollment opportunities. If you are planning to live on campus, you will want to submit your admission application and transcripts by Dec. 1, as Dec. 15 is also the first Priority Housing Deadline.
Final application deadlines for each semester are:
- Fall – June 1
- Spring – November 1
- Summer – May 1

GED Admission Criteria
GED recipients over the age of 21 may enroll full-time with a GED score of 2500 or higher. Students who do not meet these guidelines are restricted to part-time enrollment during the first-semester. Regional campus students may utilize the Step-Up to Southeast program.
GED recipients under the age of 21 must have a GED score of 2500 or higher and an ACT of 18 or higher. Students with GED scores are not allowed to enroll in classes until after the date of their high school graduation has passed.
Note: Students completing the Missouri Options Program must meet beginning freshman admissions guidelines.
Students who may not be ready for Southeast’s academic challenge are given several options to consider, including possible transfer to Southeast in the future.
GED Students Steps to Admissions
- Submit the Application for Admission and pay the non-refundable $30 application fee.
- Submit your official GED test results to the Office of Admissions.
GED Scholarships
Southeast Missouri State University offers 20 GED scholarships to entering freshmen who are non-traditional students, residents of Missouri, have not attended any other college or university, and have completed their GED program and achieved a combined standard score of 3,000 or above (300 if test taken prior to Jan. 1, 2002). Scholarships are awarded to applicants with the highest scores.
The GED Scholarship pays incidental fees for the equivalent of up to 30 hours per academic year (may include summer session) at Southeast.
To be considered for the GED Scholarship, applicant must be accepted for admission to Southeast Missouri State University, be enrolled as a full-time student, and supply a copy of the official GED score report with application. This scholarship is renewable with the completion of 30 credit hours per year and a 3.5 cumulative GPA. GED Scholarship application
