Student Ambassadors

Who Are We?

A Student Ambassador serves as a representative of the student population at Southeast Missouri State University. Often the Student Ambassador is the first or only student connection a visitor may have with the University. Therefore, it is an honored and valued position in the Office of Admissions.  By becoming a Student Ambassador, you recognize the importance and prestige inherent in representing Southeast Missouri State University.

What We Do

  • Represent the University for official campus visits and University events
  • Familiarize visitors with all aspects of the University, from its rich history and traditions to the academic and social standards that exist today
  • Portray student life at Southeast Missouri State University
  • Represent the University in a responsible and professional manner outside of the workplace
  • Familiarize prospective students with aspects of the University and portray student life via phone contacts

Requirements for Potential Student Ambassadors

  • You must be at least a second-semester freshman/transfer student in order to qualify for the position
  • You must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA 
  • Attendance at all four Show Me Days is mandatory.  Show Me Days are held on Saturdays and are scheduled from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Complete a minimum of three tours a month
  • Be on time for all tours and arrive dressed appropriately in Southeast polo shirt (provided by the Office of Admissions) and khaki/tan pants
  • Wear your Student Ambassador name tag at all times
  • Attend all training meetings
  • Write a postcard to your visitor when each tour is complete
  • Check your e-mail at least once a week
  • Complete assigned amount of telecounseling hours (three nights a semester from 5-8 p.m.)

Application Process

Selection of new Student Ambassadors is held every fall and spring semester.  You may pick up an application in Academic Hall, room 259.
