New Events will be posted when their times draw near
The Producers’ Field Day saw participation from 11 different agribusiness corporations showcasing their products. The Missouri University Extension as well as USDA-NRCS participated by presenting some of their “farm based” programs. Research tours focused on sweet sorghum as a new biofuel, extending cotton production northward, soybean fungicide trials, second crop after winter wheat or potato harvest (squash and pumpkin trials) as well as the beef research. Support groups are being formed at Kennett, Malden and Sikeston. These groups will be composed of agribusiness and farming leaders that will assist the department meet the needs of the regions in terms of education and research.
Successful outreach to Lincoln University and will share courses based on what each institution has to offer.
Rice Field day was successful with a large attendance.
FFA field day brought over 300 students to our department with tours of the Greenhouse, Alternative Agriculture and the Barton Research Farm.
