Catapult cultivates creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship by connecting interdisciplinary
teams of students, faculty, and practitioners in a rich array of courses, collaborative
projects and competitions, and a commercial learning laboratory that immerses students
into the creative entrepreneurship process.
The Catapult Gallery is a cross-disciplinary, cross-departmental collaborative space
linking the creative spirit of art with a wide range of diverse endeavors. Located
in Catapult Creative House, a one of a kind creative arts and industries incubator,
the Gallery is a 790 square foot space with moveable walls located under a two-story
skylight. The Catapult Gallery offers diverse exhibitions, lectures, gallery talks,
and other activities to the Cape Girardeau and University communities. Catapult Creative
House is handicapped accessible. All exhibitions, lectures, and events are free and
open to the public.

Catapult Creative House provides students with a unique arts environment to work on
individual and entrepreneurial artistic endeavors. The space includes individual studios
with worktables and locker storage, as well as 24 hour access to computers equipped
with Adobe Suite. Through a competitive application process, student artists are selected
based on quality of work and proposed contribution to the community and Catapult Creative
House. Studio participants are encouraged to use the space to push themselves artistically
while also promoting their work through the Catapult Retail Space, monthly exhibitions,
and various other Catapult events.

Visiting Artist Program
The Catapult Visiting Artist Program seeks to bring professionals, students, educators,
and community members together through shared learning experiences with artists from
near and far. The Visiting Artist Program has brought in numerous visiting artists
ranging from graphic design/letterpress entrepreneurs managing their own businesses
and producing posters, labeling, cards, books and more to art educators and fine artists
using letterpress in untraditional ways including large format sculpture, paper making,
and installation art.
Student of the Month Exhibition
Catapult Creative House hosts a student artist of the month during the academic year.
Each participant installs his/her exhibition, promotes it through social media and
printed materials, is available to discuss the work during first Friday events, and
de-installs the exhibition. Each student is also responsible for pricing his/her work
and arranging for sold work to be delivered to the buyer. These exhibitions present
students with a real-world experience, helping to prepare them for the business of
art, which will be an important part of their future careers.
