Roles of First Responders: 

1. Immediate care of the injured or ill student-athlete
2. Emergency equipment retrieval
3. Activation of EMS 
   call 911 from any on or off campus phone (provide name, address, telephone number, number of individuals injured, condition of injured, specific directions, and any other requested information)
4. Direct EMS to scene
   
   1. Campus police officer will unlock and open any necessary gates and/or doors
   2. A campus police officer will "flag down" EMS and direct to the  scene

Scene Control:  limit personnel on scene to first aid provides and move bystanders away from area

Host Supervision:

1. Upon arrival to the venue, the Host Athletic Trainer will meet the visiting team and medical care provider to determine needs (i.e. special needs, supervision of treatment, etc).

2. Host Athletic Trainer will meet with Emergency Medical Personnel if present to discuss EMS’s location during contest.  Emergency Medical Personnel shall be summoned if they are needed to assist in medical care.

3. During the athletic competition the Host Athletic Trainer will be on site and available for medical assistance (i.e. assist in injury evaluation and decision-making).

4. Post competition the Host Athletic Trainer will be on site to assist in post game evaluation, treatment, and decision making if needed.
