Academic Hall

Scope of Work

Replace failing infrastructure; retain historical elements; enhance the student experience via One-Stop concept. 

  • Interior demolition ongoing
  • Demo of interior ceilings, wall, MEP equipment 98% complete
  • Storm and sanitary plumbing installation ongoing
  • Underpinning and seismic strengthening ongoing
  • Demo of slate roof and replacement of gutters begun

Campus Electrical Distribution Study

Scope of Work

Determine maintenance, repair, and replacement needs of the campus primary electrical power distribution system. Develop long range plan for replacement and upgrades.

  • Final study report received
  • Additional testing to occur June 2, 2012

Campus Utility Study

Scope of Work

Evaluate existing chilled water loop, steam loop, domestic water loop, and chiller plants. Determine maintenance, repair, and replacement needs. Develop long range plan for replacement and upgrades.

  • Draft report submitted April 13, 2012 

FEMA Generator

Scope of Work

Provide a generator in the power plant area that would provide power in the event of a disaster that has the capability to provide selective power to selective buildings on the north loop.

  • Generator and fuel oil tank on site
  • Wiring and controls and fuel oil oil piping being completed

FMSC Second Floor

Scope of Work

Construct finished offices at remainder of Facilities Management Service Center second floor for FM staff currently in GS-1 building.

  • Project complete

Group Housing HVAC (Buildings F, G, & H)

Scope of Work

Introduce fresh air into student rooms; clean existing FCU’s and AHU’s; replace/upgrade finishes.

  • Submittal process ongoing through summer
  • Duct work being fabricated

Housing and Greek Village Master Plan

Scope of Work

Obtain master plan services from architects and engineers to determine needs/direction for all residence halls and feasibility of construction of a Greek Village.

  • Focus group meetings to occur April 30 - May 1, 2012
  • Kick-off meeting to occur week of April 30, 2012

Magill Hall Abatement

Scope of Work

Identify and remove all vestiges of asbestos from Magill Hall. 

  • Work ongoing, to be completed in six phases
  • Building abatement 95% complete
  • Air clearance tests favorable
  • Americium abatement ongoing

Magill Hall Renovation

Scope of Work

Replace antiquated HVAC systems, improve energy efficiency, remediate hazardous materials, correct accessibility issues, and renovate entire building.

Phase 1A - Addition
  • Metal panels to be installed May 12-13
  • Penthouse/addition roof complete
  • Electrical gear being installed
Phase 1B - Renovation
  • Drywall on second floor complete and painting begun
  • Flooring begun on second floor
  • Drywall taping and painting on first floor to begin week of April 30, 2012
  • Elevator install to begin June 1, 2012
Phase 2A - Renovation
  • Demolition begun in basement and on the west side of the first floor
  • Plumbing rough ins begun in that area

Memorial Hall Interior Renovation

Scope of Work

Renovate first and portion of second floors of Memorial Hall for Information Technology.

  • Project close-out in progress

MMTF Nexus

Scope of Work

Design and construction of new Nexus Facility and Bike Station Facility at MMTF location.

  • Project design to be completed summer 2012
  • Bids expected December 2012
  • Construction to begin March 2013 and be completed July 31, 2013

New On-Campus Housing

Scope of Work

Provide 200-250 bed residence hall on campus and a possible four building Greek Village to the northeast of OVC Fields.

  • Project will be bid in two phases
  • Phase I will include site and utilities
  • Phase II will include the main building
Phase I
  • Installation of new manholes and associates sanitary lines and water and fire lines 90% complete
  • Site grading ongoing
Phase II
  • Pre-bid meeting held April 24, 2012
  • Bid scheduled to open May 18, 2012 

North Chiller Plant

Scope of Work

Upgrades to the existing chilled water plant serving North campus.  Work includes conversion of the plant for a primary-secondary to a variable prime installation, including necessary piping modifications and control upgrades.  Modifications at secondary building pumps in the buildings served will also be necessary.  Separate but concurrent with absorption chiller replacement.

  • Construction scheduled for February-July 2012
  • Phase 1 existing pump relocated
  • New pumps being installed
  • Pump switchover scheduled for after May 2012 Commencement
  • Shutdown scheduled for June 2, 2012

Power Plant – Natural Gas Boiler Installation

Scope of Work

Replacement of existing coal boilers with gas fired boilers, to minimize emissions and to be more efficient. Additional work to be done as well to dismantle and remove a boiler.

Phase 1
  • All boilers tested and controlled
  • Remaining work being completed
  • Anticipated project completion date: May 7, 2012
Phase 2
  • New chiller has been installed
  • Punchlist items being completed
Phase 3
  • Submittals being completed
  • Asbestos testing completed

Scully Building HVAC and Controls

Scope of Work

Install new HVAC system and controls for entire Scully Building.

  • To be completed in two phases
    • Phase I will include construction of the first and third floors during summer 2012
    • Phase II will include construction of the second and fourth floors during summer 2013

Phase I
  • Department Chairs and administrative assistants to be temporarily located in Demspter Lab 001
  • Next progress meeting scheduled for May 9, 2012
  • Construction to be completed May 14-July 31, 2012
Relocation Information

The following Chair and Administration offices will be temporarily located as follows:

  • College of Education - Dempster 265 and 266
  • Psychology - Serena 210
  • Human Environmental Studies - Parker Hall 203 and 210

Show Me Center Chiller Plant

Scope of Work

Provide new chiller plant for Show Me Center, Student Rec Center - North, and Student Aquatic Center, to be completed in conjunction with the New Residence Hall.

  • Site feasibility completed
  • Site has been selected
  • Schematic and design development ongoing

University Center Restroom Renovation

Scope of Work

Renovate existing public restroom at each of the four levels.

  • All restrooms to be fully ADA accessible
  • Bids tentatively scheduled to be advertised May 13, 2012 and received May 31, 2012
  • Construction to be completed in two phases
Phase I - 3rd and 4th floors
  • Construction tentatively scheduled to begin July 1, 2012
Phase II - 1st and 2nd floors
  • Construction tentatively scheduled to begin September 4, 2012
