The University has put in place four career proficiency checks for all incoming students to fulfill while at Southeast. These proficiencies were implemented to insure that all students graduate with appropriate career planning knowledge and a professional resume and cover letter.
CL001
Career Linkages I
Preliminary step to connect academic and career planning. Students complete Web-based FOCUS-2 assessment.
Corequisite: UI 100 (0 credits)
CL002
Career Linkages II
Continuation of CL001. Students discuss FOCUS-2 results with career advisor, register for MissouriCareerSource.com, and explore part-time/summer jobs related to their career interests.
Prerequisite: CL001 (0 credits)
CL003
Career Linkages III
Students demonstrate minimal proficiency in finding information about career readiness available through Career Linkages and answering twenty-five questions correctly. Students are able to renew and review basic components of the job search process in an on-line format. Topics covered include:
• Resume Writing
• Cover Letter Creation
• Resources to assist with job search (including job referrals)
Career Linkages website provides the information and resources to assist students with correct responses.
Students add their profiles on MissouriCareerSource.com.
Prerequisite: CL002 (0 credits)
CL004
Career Linkages IV
Students demonstrate advanced proficiency in finding an open position in their field, crafting cover letter for that opening, and tailoring a resume for the position. Students update their profiles on MissouriCareerSource.com.
