Assessment is an important and necessary part of the career search that occurs throughout a lifetime as your career path evolves. Self-assessment inventories can help you develop an accurate picture of your personal strengths, needs and preferences; and may help you develop a sound career plan.
FOCUS-2 helps students with career planning and career guidance information services. It will help you broaden your career horizons and map out career and educational goals and plans. This system is based on established career counseling principles. It provides you with a complete picture of your interests, values, personality, skills and leisure activities using self-assessment questionnaires, interest inventories and personality testing.
After you have assessed your personal attributes, the system searches its career and occupational information database to help you identify and analyze occupations and career paths that match your personal characteristics.
- Log onto the My Southeast Web Portal using your SEKey and password.
- Click on the “Students” tab and in the Career Linkages box you will see the FOCUS-2 link.
After you login successfully, continue to navigate through the program using the red buttons at the bottom of the screen. You may need to scroll down to see those buttons. The program will keep track of your progress by showing check marks of completion for each phase on the Main Menu. Using the red button marked Reports at the bottom of the Main Menu, you may select the reports you desire to print. Exit the program by clicking the red button marked Exit and answer the questions. Remember to collect your printouts from the printer.
Please contact Career Linkages, 651-2583, to discuss your results or for assistance with the assessment.
