Internships
Internships provide students with the opportunity to integrate what they are learning in the classroom with “real” work experiences. At Southeast Missouri State University, internships are facilitated by Career Linkages in collaboration with academic departments. Some internship positions provide pay for students; others do not. The most important part of an internship is in the experience gained and the contacts made. Interns have opportunities to make contributions to organizations and illustrate how valuable they could be as full-time employees after graduation. We encourage all students to engage in at least one internship during their academic career.
Internship Search
Faculty advisors and staff of the Career Linkages office will help you achieve maximum benefits from your experience at Southeast Missouri State University by assisting you in your experiential learning search process. We are creating new and expanding on existing partnerships with employer organizations to offer high quality experiences for our students.
There are many different ways to find a great internship experience. Many companies have well-established strong internship programs. Others may have assorted positions available as the need arises. However, it may be that you cannot find the position you are looking for. In this case you can research and develop your own position. It takes time and hard work but an internship that is specifically tailored to your own academic and career goals can be better than one that is "close enough."
Student Eligibility
Students must meet the requirements determined by their academic departments in order to be eligible to complete internships. Academic units define the minimum number of credit hours that must be met, as well as, determine the appropriate GPA for representation of good academic standing. Some employers may have additional requirements for intern eligibility.
Upload your resume and cover letter into the RowdyTRAK and GreatHires databases to apply for listed positions and to make your information available for online employer viewing. Note: You are not limited to the positions listed. You may develop a position independently.
