Southeast Missouri State University is the only university in Missouri authorized as the University of Entrepreneurship™. The entrepreneurial program mission is to remain highly focused on educating and sustaining entrepreneurs for the region. The University of Entrepreneurship, a partnership with Southeast's Harrison College of Business, offers new businesses access to resources that can assist them with ideas, business plans, patent searches, marketing studies, financing, training and engineering.
While some theorize that enticing large companies to locate in the region is model economic development, the current trend of thinking in southeast Missouri focuses on a different direction. Depending on outside investment to fuel the local economy is unpredictable and inconsistent. Using the resources located inside the Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, we try to encourage, provide resources for, and train local entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses.
