Program Overview

Students majoring in Communication Disorders at Southeast Missouri State University are afforded the opportunity to receive training in a nationally accredited program in speech-language pathology by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Majors in Communication Disorders are involved in extensive academic and clinical training pertaining to human communication and its disorders that meet the standards of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

The undergraduate and graduate curricula provide a well-integrated program of study in normal communication processes, as well as communication behaviors and development. Discipline-specific courses provide in-depth information on the nature, prevention, evaluation, and treatment of speech, language and hearing disorders. In addition to the required course of study, students have opportunities to study special problems and professional issues, and conduct research on topics pertaining to speech-language pathology and audiology.
