Lunch & Learn: Various professionals in the field meet with us for a brown bag luncheon to discuss their work and entertain our questions. Faculty and students, alike, attend. We’ll post these opportunities online, in the classroom and on hallway bulletin boards.

End-of-the-Year Student Awards: Students who have excelled in our programs receive awards at this annual luncheon. Fun! Watch for the announced time and place.

Speakers Showcase: A student speaker from SC 105 returns early the next semester to model speechmaking for those newly enrolled in the course. It's an educational as well as festive event, complete with door prizes!

Michael Davis Lecture: An annual lecture, hosted by our sister department (The Dept. of Mass Media), in honor of a former student, majoring in journalism. He died February 15, 1994, of injuries he sustained in a fraternity hazing incident.

Emil C. Weis Lecture: An annual lecture, endowed by the family of a former speech communication student. The lecture examines topics relevant to rhetoric and public address.

Joseph Low Lecture: An annual lecture, endowed by the mother of a former professor of speech communication. The lecture examines topics pertaining to the theory and practice of communication.

Free Speech 5K Run, Ceremonial Walk & Concert: An annual 5K run and one mile walk to celebrate our First Amendment Rights.
