Academics

R. Ferrell Ervin Student Resource Center - Room 113 
Students are welcome to visit the student resource room which houses thousands of books, magazines, periodicals, newsletters and daily newspapers.  The department subscribes to all of the professional magazines in each of the option areas--radio, video, public relations, advertising and journalism. The resource room is open weekly, with hours posted on the outside door. Students can utilize the resource center for research, reading and relaxing.  In addition to all of the periodicals, the resource center also has five, Internet-ready computers for students to type papers, do research or check e-mail.  



Areas of Study: The department offers degrees in Communication Studies, Corporate Communication and Mass Communication.

Oral Communication Center: This newcomer to the department provides assistance to students and others who have speaking assignments, as well as faculty who wish to provide quality speaking experiences for their students. Dr. Roseanna Whitlow serves as the center’s director.

Scholarships: Many opportunities are available for students to receieve scholarships or additional funding toward their college education.
