Physical Recreation
Build Your Own World Series Team You have just purchased your very own professional baseball team. As the owner, you will have to manage your money wisely and make all the decisions as you build your team. From recruiting your players to making season schedules... you'll do it all! You'll talk with baseball coaches, athletic trainers and managers to discuss their experiences working with baseball teams. Rowdy the Redhawk may even stop by for a visit. Join us for a week full of fun and excitement learning about and riding horses. You will learn basic principles of horse ownership, including grooming, feeding, and caring for a horse. Also, you’ll spend time riding a horse in an enclosed area. Miniature horses will also be available during the camp. All sessions will be held at the Rolling Hills Farm. Safety helmets will be provided. Instructor: Joyce Felty, Rolling Hills Farm (Gordonville, Mo.) * Parents should arrange for students to be dropped off and picked up at Rolling Hills Farm each day.
Roundup at Rolling Hills Farm! Level Two Are you ready to spend more time in the saddle? Join us for this second level course where you will spend more time riding and expand your knowledge of horse care and ownership! In this course we will go beyond beginner and spend more time perfecting posture, playing games on horseback and maneuvering our horses. All sessions will be held at Rolling Hills Farm. Safety helmets will be provided. Children who have not attended level one may attend level two, provided they have some experience with horseback riding. Sheer Adventure: Rock Climbing, Survival Skills, Navigation & More! This outdoor activity class will place students in safe, but physically and mentally challenging situations. These activities demonstrate the value of teamwork and enhance self-reliance and confidence in one’s own physical skills and problem-solving abilities. The result will be an improvement in self-confidence and self-esteem. The focus of the course is rock climbing, but we will also cover camping skills, outdoor etiquette, and survival tricks. Must be at least 10 years of age. Field Trip: Giant City State Park (Makanda, Il.), Friday Instructors: Eric Redinger, Student Recreation Center Session II: June 9-13, Mornings* Session III: June 16-20, Mornings* Fee: $139 (Includes Field Trip and Equipment) *Class will meet from 7:15 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday. |
