Dog Training with a Pawsitive Edge

Do you love your dog but struggle to understand why he/she does certain things? Properly training your dog can alleviate problem behaviors at home and strengthen the bond you have with your beloved four-legged friend. In this four-week class we’ll cover the basics of training and practice ways to build on your current relationship.  We’ll also help you understand those often frustrating canine behaviors and learn how to interpret your furry friend’s actions.

Leave your pet at home for the first night and we’ll go over the basic rules of the class, equipment for training, and clicker training. Bring your canine companion along for the remaining classes as we jump into training and help you connect to Fido.  We’ll cover basic commands including sit, stay, down, heel and come (in addition to fixing bad habits such as jumping, nipping, or pulling on the leash).  We’ll also teach special dog tricks and games. If time permits, the class will also have the opportunity to test for the Canine Good Citizen award.

Even if you have tried other training methods and are still experiencing a behavioral problem, this course is sure to offer a new and “paws-itive” training experience!

Dates/Time:  Mondays & Thursdays, Oct. 19-Nov. 12, 6-7:15 p.m.
Fee:  $69
Instructor: Ashley Allstun

Ashley Allstun works as a veterinary technician for Deer Ridge Animal Hospital and occasionally works at the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri while pursuing a degree at Southeast Missouri State University in animal science.
