The Evolution of the Vampire in Film: From Dracula to Twilight

This course will take a look at how the vampire has developed throughout screen history (big and small). We‘ll look at films and television work from the silent era to present day and use these materials to examine how the vampire has evolved from a bloodthirsty creature of habit into a misunderstood romantic being with an alternate lifestyle.

Some movies rated R. Must be over age 17 or have parental consent to attend.

Dates/Time:  Wednesdays, Sept. 30–Oct. 28, 6-8 p.m.
Fee:  $59
Instructor: Vernon Gravely

Vernon Gravely has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, a master’s degree in TESL, and master’s degree in English. Vernon’s interest in the vampire genre began before starting grade school, running home every day after kindergarten dismissed so he wouldn’t miss a moment of Dark Shadows.
