Artists, photographers, designers and hobbyists all rely on Adobe Photoshop for graphic design work. If you want to work with graphics, Photoshop is the program you need to learn. Even if you’ve never used a computer for graphics before, this course will teach you how to use Photoshop with simple, detailed step-by-step instructions. In this three-hour introductory workshop you will learn to: Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge and experience with basic software programs such as Microsoft Word Thursday, October 30 Jessica King earned her undergraduate degree in technical graphics and her master’s degree in industrial management from Southeast. She is currently teaching graphics courses at Southeast in the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology.

The CPS test is a professional certification offered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. This professional certification shows employers, clients and associates that you are committed as a professional. Certification is a mark of excellence that you will carry with you everywhere you go. Born in Spain, Margarita later moved to the United States where she worked as a freelance translator and interpreter of the Spanish language for several companies.

Jennifer has spent fifteen continuous years in the financial services industry, half of them on the corporate side of the business. Jennifer and her husband started Hendrickson Business Advisors, LLC in 2007, fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning their own business. Janet L. Livingston has a bachelor of arts degree and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Drury University. Janet has spent the last seventeen years at SRC Holdings Corporation learning from her employer and mentor, Jack Stack (The Great Game of Business, Doubleday/Currency 1992 and A Stake In the Outcome, Doubleday/Currency, 2002). During her time with SRC, Janet worked with businesses worldwide to improve profitability and employee relations utilizing the principles of open-book management and creating organizations with business-savvy people. In partnership with Condensed Curriculum International, Inc. (CCI), the Office of Extended & Continuing Education is now offering two Health Care Professional training programs. Although the US economy remains sluggish and the overall job market has not improved, the demand for health care staff and professionals is growing at a staggering rate. These factors have created enormous job opportunities for individuals trained in leading health care professions. Available to both working adults interested in a new career and current health care professionals, these exciting programs will help students prepare for jobs available to health care staff and professionals! Pharmacy Technician Certification Program This comprehensive 50 hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Program includes a graded final exam to help prepare students for the PTCB exam.Tuesdays/Thursdays, October 21-December 11

Phlebotomy Technician Certification Program The 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, hands-on specimen practice, and clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. The program also includes lab exercises, live blood draws, work with a training arm and other exercises intended to prepare students to function as an entry level Phlebotomy Technician.NOTE: This 90 hour program does not include the arranging of a free clinical rotation on behalf of students. Although not required to work as a Phlebotomy Technician, students that wish to pursue a clinical rotation should contact local health care organizations to arrange their personal clinical schedule.
