Dr. Chris McGowan is the dean of Southeast's College of Science, Technology and Agriculture and a professor in the Department of Chemistry.
Dr. McGowan earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1973. He received a master's of science degree in 1976 and a doctorate in 1979, both in analytical chemistry, from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Prior to his career at Southeast, Dr. McGowan was a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at Tennessee Technological University from 1978-1997. He also served as chairman of the department from 1992-1997.
Dr. McGowan began his tenure as Dean at Southeast in 1997.
