Towers East

The community-style living in Towers East is perfect for new students, ensuring a high level of involvement with other members of the community. Specialized training for the Resident Assistants ensures a supportive environment for the unique needs of traditional students who are attending college for the first time. The Resident Assistants and Hall Director are familiar with the typical (and not so typical!) needs and concerns of first year college students - and the staff is there to help.

Each floor can house up to 35 students, including the Resident Assistant. Each floor has a separate shower area, with privatized shower facilities - no "gang showers!" A separate room has private toilet facilities. Each student room has a sink, which students find very convenient. There is a lounge with comfortable furniture, a microwave, and a television on each floor.

Students in the building share access to a large laundry room, kitchenette, ice machine, and lounge area. The lounge has a television, comfortable furniture, and an ice machine. The large laundry room means one-stop laundry; there are enough machines to wash all of your clothes at once!

Each room is equipped with a cable TV and phone line.  There are also LAN (Local Area Network) ports for each resident of the room.

Towers East also has several special programs, including:

  • Faculty/Staff Interaction: The Resident Assistants, working with their Hall Director, coordinate regular programs to bring Southeast faculty and staff to Towers East. Some faculty members meet with small groups of students to discuss current events, politics, science, or other topics of interest. Some faculty meet with students at lunch or dinner, while other faculty present more traditional programs in the evenings.

  • Hall Government: This outstanding leadership opportunity gives a group of first-year students a "head start" on managing a big budget, coordinating social and educational events, and working with staff at the University.

  • Academic Advising: The Hall Director and Resident Assistants coordinate special academic advising opportunities each semester to help ensure that new students are taking advantage of help with choosing classes, majors, and careers.

Towers East adjoins Towers Complex, which includes a 24-hour service desk, study areas, lounges, central mailroom, and computer lab, as well as Towers Dining Center and Rowdy's restaurant.
