Learning Assistance Programs and Disability Support Services Learning Assistance Programs and Disability Support Services provide programs designed to help you become an independent learner, accomplish your educational goals no matter what obstacles or difficulties you may experience, become aware of the value of diversity and ensure you have access to all University programs should you have a disability or impairment. Through these programs, Learning Assistance Programs and Disability Support Services hope to promote learning, academic success and student retention.
Tutoring services are provided by Learning Assistance Programs, located in the University Center, Room 302. This service is offered to all enrolled University students. All tutors for the Learning Assistance Programs have received an A or B in the courses they tutor or have been recommended by the academic department which offers the course. To receive tutoring assistance:

Supplemental Instruction is offered in a select number of courses each semester and is led by trained upperclass students who attend course lectures, take notes and complete the same assigned readings you do. SI leaders then schedule and conduct two to three 50-minute sessions each week at times which are compatible to the availability of a majority of the interested students in each course section. During each SI session, course lecture and reading notes are reviewed and the leader will assist students in better understanding facts, assignments, charts, diagrams and formulas. Leaders also help students with test-taking skills and practice exams. Heavy emphasis is placed on the development of healthy and efficient study skills. You may participate in SI sessions free of charge as long as you are enrolled in the particular course with which SI is conntected. Supplemental Instruction sessions have been shown to improve the note taking, reading, test taking and study skills and habits of the students who take advantage of them, and for those who regularly attend, SI has been shown to, on average, raise students’ overall grade by one letter. Supplemental Instruction sessions are voluntary and free. Additional SI sessions also are offered before tests and before final examinations.
