Southeast Missouri State University

Who says you have to go to New York to see a Broadway play, Picasso’s art or listen to a symphony?

On campus, you can see six main-stage productions each year, which usually consist of contemporary tragedies, comedies, dance concerts, musical comedies and dramas. In addition to theatre, you can listen to symphonies, operas and jazz bands. If you prefer to participate instead of sitting in the audience, you can join the theatre group’s next performance, participate in the nationally recognized Golden Eagles Marching Band, sing in the choir or play the violin in the University’s symphony.

At Southeast, we want you to experience the arts and culture from today and through the ages. That is why you can check out contemporary and traditional exhibits and artwork at our own museum. We have prehistoric Native American artifacts that date back to 900 A.D. and contemporary art from such famous artists as Picasso.

The newly constructed River Campus, on the banks of the Mississippi River, is the Midwest’s first public institution with a campus dedicated to the disciplines of art, dance, music and theatre. The River Campus provides state-of- the-art facilities, which include a 950-seat professional theatre.

If theatre and art do not interest you, we have national recording artists such as Sheryl Crowe who come to Southeast to perform just for you at the Show Me Center.
