I am finally home! Today was really a great departure day. This morning we had breakfast on Capital Hill with Joann Emerson and her staff. They talked about their jobs in Washington D.C. and what a typical day is like. They all highly encouraged internship in D.C. It was really refreshing to know that opportunities can arise to allow voice to be heard. We also heard from an Ambassador, which his experiences in life were also amazing.

Today was our final day with the CSIS staff. It was also our second simulation activity. As before, we were assigned into groups prior to this trip. The groups were about five and each group had to provide five recommendations to the new elected President regarding their issue. The groups were Energy, International Security, Human Rights, Economic Integration, and I think Natural Resources. This activity was extremely hard; I admire policy makers for our country. I did realize that I do not care at all for debate. But, we all seemed to have an outcome which was a miracle (just kidding).

I am so tired today I barely remember... just kidding. I heard a lot of interesting and beneficial stuff again today regarding international business affairs. Once again, the credentials of our speakers were truly amazing! We learned a lot about strategy, transnational threats, global aging, and Middle East policies.

Well, today we had our first simulation activity at CSIS. All classmates were put into groups prior to our trip. These groups of 2 or 3 were assigned one country to represent at our pretend OPEC meeting. Frank Verrastro and his assistant Matt conducted this activity and it was so much fun! I learned a lot about the operations and logic behind the gasoline prices. I think this activity was very beneficial to us all considering the suffering we do as consumers that goes along with the conflict over oil, such as gas prices.

Today was our first day at CSIS; it was truly amazing! We heard some of the global issues regarding different countries such as China, Russia and Eurasia, South Asia, India, and Africa. The things that I heard sure put things into perspective for me.

Well, today was our departure day, so everyone was extremely excited to get to D.C. We departed from Dempster at 10 a.m. We all had a blast talking and joking on our voyage to the airport. We arrived at St. Louis, checked in, and headed for Baltimore.
