The University will send selected students to Washington, D.C., during spring break week (March 17-22, 2013) to participate in a four-day seminar to be presented by the scholars and researchers of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Cost will be $300 per person*, not including evening meals, incidentals, and course fees.
Included in this cost is the following:
- Transportation from Cape Girardeau to the St. Louis airport and return
- Round trip airfare from St. Louis to Washington, D.C.
- Lodging for five nights in Washington, D.C.
- Free time allowed for area attractions and visits to government offices
*Actual cost of the trip is approximately $2,500 per student, but the cost will be subsidized through scholarships provided by the University president, provost and deans, thereby allowing students to pay only $300 per person.
Tentative Trip Schedule (as of August 2013)
Sunday: Depart from St. Louis International Airport
Monday: All day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided. Dinner on your own.
Tuesday: Half day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided. Dinner on your own.
Wednesday: All day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided. Dinner on your own.
Thursday: Half day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided. Southeast Alumni Reception at CSIS in the evening.
Friday: Visit to the U.S. Capitol and return to St. Louis.
