The University will send selected students to Washington, D.C., during spring break week (March 12-17, 2017) to participate in a four-day seminar to be presented by the scholars and researchers of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

The actual cost of the program is approximately $3,000 per student, however program costs will be defrayed by generous contributions by donors (particularly Mrs. Betty Glenn, the Cape West Rotary and the White Oak Cotton Gin Co.) and scholarships provided by the University President, Provost, Deans and relevant Directors.

(Students will be responsible for the normal fees for the three-hour UI498 course, plus some meals and incidentals, while in D.C.).

Included in this cost is the following:

  • Transportation to and from the St. Louis airport.
  • Round trip airfare from St. Louis to Washington, D.C.
  • Lodging for five nights in Washington, D.C.
  • Free time allowed for area attractions and visits to government offices


Tentative Trip Schedule (as of August 2016)

Sunday:  Depart from St. Louis International Airport

Monday:  All day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided.  Dinner on your own.

Tuesday:  Half day seminar at CSIS . Lunch and Dinner on your own.

Wednesday:  All day seminar at CSIS with lunch provided. Southeast Alumni Reception in the evening. Dinner on your own. 

Thursday:  Half day seminar at CSIS. Lunch and Dinner on your own.

Friday:  Return to St. Louis.
