Anyone wishing to be certificated in the State of
Missouri should apply for Teacher Certification, once meeting the requirements.
When should I apply for
Teacher Certification?
Applications for Teacher Certification will be mailed to
each graduation candidate approximately two months prior to graduation based on
the graduation list received from the Registrar's Office. If you do not
receive an application packet 30 days prior to graduation, please contact our
office.
Applications will be sent to the Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education (DESE) in Jefferson City after graduation. Once
our office receives your transcript (usually two weeks after graduation), your
application will be completed and sent to DESE. It can take any where from
two to eight weeks for DESE to issue your certificate.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
(DESE) in Jefferson City issues Teaching Certificates.
You can access DESE's website at:
https://k12apps.dese.mo.gov/webapps/tcertsearch/tc_search1.asp
A post card will be mailed to you once your application is mailed to DESE.
