Program Quality

Accreditation

The faculty and staff involved with Southeast Missouri State University’s educator preparation programs take pride in the quality and reputation of those programs. Recognizing that there is always room for improvement, however, they regularly seek information that facilitates evaluation of program quality. Some of that evidence is presented here.

Accrediting Organizations

Regular review by external agencies for the purposes of accreditation provides valuable feedback. The following are current accreditations:

  • All educator preparation programs:
    • the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
    • the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
  • Counseling (including School Counseling: Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
  • Music (including Instrumental Music Education and Vocal Music Education): National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)

Council for the Accreditation Educator Preparation (CAEP)

As part of annual procedures, CAEP requires that Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) collect certain types of data, analyze them, and make them publicly available. Presentation and discussion of these data are available on the following pages.
