More and more, people are beginning to understand the need for and the impact entrepreneurship makes in a region. Communities are beginning to see the need to become more educated and entrepreneurial friendly. The Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) currently has several programs for communites and small business development. 

Operation JumpStart (OJS) Missouri - The signature program of the CIE is the 6-week, small business owner training course called Operation JumpStart Missouri, which utilizes a curriculum called Operation JumpStart: First Step. Operation JumpStart: First Step is a comprehensive curriculum which includes development of the business concept, market analysis, pricing, and cash flow, along with other areas critical to business success.  The curriculum walks aspiring business owners through the idea feasibility process.

Operation JumpStart and - In early 2011, the CIE entered into an exclusive license agreement with the First Step courseware creator, the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, MO.  Rebranded as Operation JumpStart: First Step, the courseware is now distributed by the CIE, under the direction of Jessica Clayton, Operation JumpStart project coordinator. Clayton now manages the Operation JumpStart Institute which is a 2 day symposia providing facilitator and program administrator certification for affiliate organizations launching and Operation JumpStart program in their area. The CIE not only certifies affiliates and facilitators, it sells the curriculum via the website

Operation Main Street - A new program that CIE will launch in the summer of 2011 is Operation Main Street: Business Success Series, a customized training and counseling program for downtown or mainstreet businesses.  Dually sponsored by the US Department of Labor and the US Small Business Administration. Operation Growth Start - For various reasons, microentrepreneurs are not always able to launch their ideas into a businesses immediately after graduating from Operation JumpStart Missouri.  Instead, they might need additional financial or technical consulting or coaching.  Operation Growth Start provides these services at no charge to former Operation JumpStart graduates in an effort to increase the number of successful launches. Revitalizing Rural Communities with Innovation - This 3-year project is sponsored by the US Small Business Administration and partners high school students with local community leaders and businesses to prepare youth for taking an entrepreneurial role in their communities. Regional Outreach - In addition, the CIE is the has partnered with the Delta Regional Authority, an eight-state federal organization that works to improve the lives of residents in 252 counties and parrishes in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennesee.  The partnership, Microenterprise Development Alliance, will provide the Operation JumpStart model training to the DRA's eight states through a US Small Business Administration grant.

Global Entrepreneurship Week activities each November includes special events, themes and activies for students. Over the last four years, the CIE has created an entire week of events and presentations that help students begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks needed to develop innovative, sustainable enterprises and careers that have a positive impact on their lives, their families and their communities.  In addition, many activities, like WIN! (Women Inspiring eNtrepreneurship!) provide women in the community the opportunity to network and the avenue to learn from other successful women.
