Minutes - May 10, 2000

The Faculty Senate of Southeast Missouri State University reconvened on Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at 3:00 p.m. in the Party Room of the University Center.  The following Senators were present:  Ali, Althaus, Bernstein, Bodenheimer, Cwick, Dunavan, Eddleman, Farris, Hamilton, Hecht, Heeney, Heitman,  Kraemer, Kulatunga, McKee, Needels, Ricks, Roberts, Robinson, Schoonmaker, Sutton, Tikoo, Uzoaru, Venezian, Wallgren, Willingham, and Yuan.  Dr. Leon Book, Dr. Stephanie Chamberlain and
Dr. James Buckenmyer were also present.

Chair McKee reconvened the Faculty Senate.

Old Business

Merit Pay Guidelines
Senator Althaus moved that the Faculty Senate repass the Merit Pay Steering Committee Bill 00-A-04 and resubmit to President Dobbins intact.  Senator Pollina seconded the motion.  Discussion followed.  The strategy behind sending it back to the President is to communicate to the President what will be lost if he does not pass the bill.  By a show of hands 26 Yes votes, 1 No vote, 2 Abstentions, the motion passed.

New Business

Senator Farris distributed copies of a draft of Parameters for Strategic Planning Task Force Internal Problem Solving.  Dr. Buckenmyer discussed the problem.  He asked the Senate to put the issue on the agenda for the coming year.
