Resolution 06-03 Temporary Senate Terms
WHEREAS the Senate constitution specify that roughly 1/3 of the Senate terms should expire each year and,
WHEREAS the current distribution is perceived to be significantly out of alignment with the constitution and,
WHEREAS this may be due in part to the Faculty Senate Reform bill passed several years ago and,
WHEREAS the Senate Governance Committee has studied the current distribution of term boundaries and recommends that eight randomly drawn senate terms shall be designated as temporary two year terms for the spring 07 elections.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Senate membership committee is directed to randomly select eight expiring senate terms for the spring 2007 elections and designate them as temporary two year terms.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the temporary terms will revert to full three year terms after the temporary terms have expired.
