Resolution 07-01 Establishing Task Force To Identify Intellectual Property Rights
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TASK FORCE TO IDENTIFY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ISSUES
WHEREAS the Administration has suggested that the Faculty Senate study and make recommendations regarding intellectual property rights policy at Southeast Missouri State University, and
WHEREAS intellectual property issues may relate to the charges of both the Professional Affairs Committee and the Academic Affairs Committee, and
WHEREAS identification of the issues surrounding intellectual property rights is a logical and useful step to take prior to the consideration of possible policy recommendations, and
WHEREAS the topic of intellectual property rights is a complex one about which a variety of faculty may have expertise,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Faculty Senate authorizes the establishment of a task force charged to identify the issues surrounding the topic of intellectual property rights and to report those findings to the Senate by the end of the Spring 2007 semester. The members of the task force shall be appointed by the Chairperson of the Faculty Senate from recommendations by the chairpersons of the Professional Affairs and Academic Affairs Committees. The membership shall include representation from both of those Committees as well as non-Senate members with legal or other expertise on the subject of intellectual property rights.
