Resolution 11-07 Amendment of Faculty Senate Constitution Respective to Senator Elections

FACULTY SENATE RESOLUTION 11-07

BRIEF SUMMARY:  Amends the Faculty Senate Constitution to move the election date for Faculty Senators to March 31st.  

AMENDMENT OF FACULTY SENATE CONSTITUTION RESPECTIVE TO SENATOR ELECTIONS  

WHEREAS: Faculty Senate election timelines restrict planning time for the incoming executive committee of the Faculty Senate before the semester’s end.  Setting election timelines earlier will provide additional time for senate legislative chairs and the Faculty Senate executive committee to prepare Faculty Senate for the upcoming academic year.  

WHEREAS: Article 4.B.2 of the Faculty Senate Constitution (pp. 288) states, “The primary and general elections for departmental unit representatives shall be completed by April 30th each year.”  

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The date for Faculty Senate elections shall be based earlier in the year and thus read as follows:  

Article 4.B.2 of the Faculty Senate Constitution (pp. 288) will state, “The primary and general elections for departmental unit representatives shall be completed by March 31st each year.”
