Endowed and Sponsored Scholarships for First Year Students Most scholarships on this Web page will use the Endowed and Sponsored Scholarship Application for Beginning Freshmen which is available in Adobe Acrobat or paper format at Student Financial Services. Some scholarships may require a supplemental application which is also available in Adobe Acrobat or paper format at Student Financial Services.This will be indicated in the scholarship's description. Within these groups, scholarships are listed in alphabetical order. Harrison College of Business EB001. BANK OF AMERICA - COLLEGE OF BUSINESS. Open to students in the College of Business with financial need who do not otherwise qualify for Southeast's merit scholarships. Incoming freshmen must have a 2.5 high school GPA. Once enrolled, recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their Business major and have an overall 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1. EB021. DON C. BEDELL EXCELLENCE AWARD. Open to students majoring in Business with a 3.0 GPA. Incoming freshmen must rank in the top 20% of their high school graduating class. Deadline is March 1. ED003. FRANCES E. DANIEL. Open to Charleston Missouri R-1 graduates seeking a degree from the College of Business. Financial need will be a consideration. Deadline is March 1. EF002. ALBERT FELDHOFF MEMORIAL.Open to students from Southeast Missouri with preference being given to employees and/or the children of employees in any of the donor's business ventures. Applicant must have a B (or B+) high school GPA (unless otherwise approved by the donor). Financial need may be a consideration. Applicant will be required to sign a release stating Southeast Missouri State University will have permission to divulge information to the donor in reference to the recipient's GPA, class attendance, or any other privacy act information. Deadline is March 1. EF007. WALTER H. "DOC" FORD MEMORIAL. Open to students majoring in Economics, Political Science, or Education. Applicant must have a "B" average. Award will be renewable for a maximum of 2 academic years. If an applicant meets the above criteria and is also a basketball player (men's or women's team), preference on selection will be given to a basketball player. Also, applicant must show evidence of financial need. Deadline is March 1.EG010. JOHN GLENN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. Open to students majoring in business with preference for graduates of Puxico, Zalma, Ellsinore or Greenville High Schools. Student must be traditional student with financial need as verified by the FAFSA form. Non-traditional students do not qualify for the award. First preference is to direct descendants of John and Betty Glenn attending Southeast Missouri State University. Minimum GPA is 2.5. Deadline is March 1. 0014. DEBBIE HEDRICK ACCOUNTING. Open to average students cumulative GPA not to exceed 3.0) majoring in Business who show financial need. Deadline is March 1. EH027. MARK HUDSON MA-250 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. The primary intent of this scholarship is to reward a Sigma Nu member who has displayed extraordinary service in helping the chapter, his fellow brothers, or an individual brother in need. Scholarship to be awarded to an active member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University who is a freshman through senior. Scholarship recipient should have interest in pursuing a degree in business. Deadline is March 1. EH023. GLENN J. AND HELEN F. HUTSON. Applicant must be a resident of Cape Girardeau County majoring in Business. Deadline is March 1. EM005. MADISON COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER/MADISON COUNTY. Open to students of Madison County majoring in Healthcare or Business with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Financial need is a determining factor. Deadline is March 1. EM021. ROBERT MOTHERSHEAD ACCOUNTING. Open to Accounting majors. First preference will be given to Kelly High School graduates, followed by Scott County graduates, and then graduates of the University's core service area. Financial need will be a consideration. Deadline is March 1. EP017. JAMES & SALLY PIATCHEK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP. Awarded to deserving student with a major in the College of Business for the purpose of attending classes on campus or participation in an international business experience. Deadline is March 1. EV003. VIOLA BOYCE VOGEL. Open to entering freshmen or students currently enrolled at the University majoring in Business. Preference will be given to students with 30 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1. EV006. WILLIAM AND EVELYN VOLENETZ. Open to students majoring in Business with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and financial need. Preference will be given to a student from St. Louis County. Deadline is March 1. College of Education EB020. ESTHER BATTEN ENDOWED. Open to students enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree in Education with a major in Elementary Education. Preference for this scholarship will be given to an entering freshman who is a graduate of the Mehlville School District. Preference will also be given to students who attended Bernard Elementary School. The applicant must show financial need. The recipient can renew the scholarship if he or she maintains a 3.0 GPA and reapplies each year. Deadline is March 1. EB031. MARY MARGARET CROLE BILLINGHAM ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP. To be awarded to a student majoring in and/or seeking a degree in teaching at any grade level, regardless of whether the student’s interest is teaching at the preschool level, kindergarten through senior year of high school, post secondary schooling in a college university, trade school or like educational institutions. Award is based upon the financial need of the student and/or the academic achievements of the student at the University and can be renewed yearly for a total of 8 semesters. Deadline is March 1.
EC009. CHARLESTON, MISSOURI, EDUCATION FUND. Open to Charleston High School graduates who are majoring in Education. Financial need is a determining factor. Two awards are given annually. Award is renewable with a 2.25 GPA. Deadline is March 1. ED010. CLARENCE AND VIRGINIA DESPAIN. Available to freshmen form Madison and Wayne Counties in Missouri. Applicant should have strong interest in teacher education, have a minimum 3.25 high school GPA, and meet criteria for admission into the teacher education program. Deadline is March 1. ED017. FRANKLIN COUNTY/PAUL COPELAND. Open to students from Union R-II School District in Missouri. Must be in upper third of graduating class, have financial need, and be an Education major. Awarded to student(s) majoring in an English Education curriculum. Deadline is March 1. EH002. MR. AND MRS. EDWARD C. HALL. Open to students pursuing a B.S. in Education or aspiring to enter the teaching profession. Entering freshmen must rank on or above the 50th percentile on a University admissions test and in the upper one-half of their high school class. University students must have a 2.0 GPA. One award goes to a graduate of Lafayette or Eureka High School. Deadline is March 1. EH007. STEPHEN L. HARRIS ATHLETIC. Open to Southeast student athletes. Preference will be given to athletes majoring in education. Deadline is March 1. EL017. ALTA CRITES LUCY. Open to beginning freshmen who are in the upper one-fourth of their high school class and rank at or above the 75th percentile on the University admissions test. Applicants must be entering the Teacher Education program. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Renewable with a 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1. EP006. PERRY-STE. GENEVIEVE/ROSINA KOETTING. Open to students form Ste. Genevieve or Perry Counties. Must be a physical education major with preference to female students. Deadline is March 1. ES028. TONY E. Applicant must be a graduate of a high school located in Scott, Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, or Mississippi County in Missouri and must be enrolled or plan to be enrolled in the College of Education full- or part-time. Deadline is March 1. ET002. RUBYE HOWLETT THOMPSON MEMORIAL. Open to graduates of any Mississippi County high school who are majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education. Deadline is March 1. EP016. LENORE OSBORNE PAULLUS HUMAN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP FUND. Awarded to Human Environmental Studies major who shows evidence of merit, need and achievement in understanding literature and history, as well as in human environmental studies. First preference will be given to students from Wayne County or bordering counties in Missouri. Deadline is March 1. EP002. DOROTHY KIES PENZEL. Open to students pursuing a degree in Human Environmental Studies, Family and Consumer Science Education, Dietetics, Food Services, or Hospitality Management with at least half-time enrollment. Entering freshmen must have a 2.5 high school GPA. Deadline is March 1. EP004. PERRY COUNTY/HEALTHCARE. Open to students in the Healthcare field with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and financial need. Preference will be given to Perry County residents. Deadline is March 1. ER011. LUCILE FARRAR RUSSELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. Open to Human Environmental Studies (Home Economics) majors at any year level. Award is based on academic merit and can vary to meet the financial need of the student, but cannot exceed the established University budget for a single student. Applicants must submit a FAFSA. Scholarship is renewable if student remains in good standing. Deadline is March 1.
College of Liberal Arts EA003. ALEXANDER COUNTY/EDNA WALKER. Open to students from Alexander County, Illinois. Preference will be given to a Music major with a 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1. EB005. HELEN BEDFORD. Open to Art students. Applicants must submit 10 photographic slides of their artwork for review, a self-addressed stamped envelope (for return of slides), and a one-page statement on their goals in art, interests and plans for the future. Deadline is March 1. EB006. JULIA AND LINDEN BERRY SCHOLARSHIP. Awarded to a student who is a resident and graduate of one of the high schools in the following counties: Stoddard, Wayne, Carter, Bollinger, Ripley, Reynolds, Madison or New Madrid. The student must express an interest in the speech/public speaking area and must have financial need as verified by the FAFSA form. Students must be traditional students. Non-traditional students do not qualify for this award. First preference for awarding the scholarship is to direct descendants of John and Betty Glenn attending Southeast Missouri State University. Minimum GPA is 2.5. Deadline is March 1.EB019. JIM & ANTOINETTE BIUNDO THEATRE AND DANCE SCHOLARSHIP.One-time award available to incoming freshmen planning to pursue a degree in Theatre or Performance. Applicant must have a high school G.P.A. of 3.0 or above, have an ACT score of 25 or above, enroll and successfully complete at least 12 hours of course credit each semester, and actively participate in Theatre and Dance productions by auditioning and/or accepting technical crew assignments. The applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (secondary teacher/advisor and non-family community member) and must audition and/or show sample of work. Recipients are evaluated at the end of the fall semester to determine eligibility for the spring semester. Criteria for evaluation include academic and artistic progress, and such personal characteristics as cooperation, motivation and adaptability. Genevieve, and St. Francois. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 and financial need as verified by the FASFA form. Students must be traditional students. Awarded to a Science major living in a Heartland county in Southeast Missouri, Southwest Illinois, Western Kentucky or Northwest Tennessee with a 3.0 GPA and financial need, as indicated by the FAFSA. Deadline is March 1. EH011. JEFFERSON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP. Open to graduates of Herculaneum, Desoto, or St. Pius X High School with financial need. Preference will be given to students majoring in Science. Automatically renewable for four years if 2.5 cumulative GPA is maintained. Deadline is March 1. EN007. S. DAVID NUNLEY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP. Applicants must be Pre-Pharmacy or Chemistry majors who have a minimum high school or college GPA of 3.0 and financial need. Preference will be given to Pre-Pharmacy majors. Deadline is March 1. EP015. JAMES HAROLD PAULLUS BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP FUND. Awarded to a student with primary field of study in the biological sciences, who shows evidence of merit, need and research ability, with preference given to student planning to do graduate work, majoring in entomology. Open to students majoring in Mathematics, Physics, Industrial Technology or Pre-Engineering with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1. EP007. PHYSICS ALUMNI. Open to beginning freshmen who are majoring in a program leading towards a B.S. degree granted by the Physics Department. Applicant must have a minimum ACT score of 24. The past year's recipient may reapply for this scholarship provided he or she has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is an active participant in the Physics and Engineering Club. Deadline is May 1. EW009. GRACE N. WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THOSE MAJORING IN MATHEMATICS. Open to students with financial need pursuing a degree in Education with a major in Math. Preference will be given to applicants in the field of Secondary Education. Deadline is March 1. School of Polytechnic Studies EA011. AGRICULTURE CLUB. Awarded for high academic achievement. This award is given to one recruited freshman and one upperclassman. Eligible students must have declared a major or minor in agriculture. Sophomore and junior applicants may have no grade below a “C” and just have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Recipients also must be of sound moral character and in need of financial assistance. Deadline is March 1. EC018. SCOTT COLLINS MEMORIAL.Open to students majoring in Agriculture with a 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to students living in the Egyptian School District. If none apply, preference will be given to residents of Alexander County, Illinois. Deadline is March 1. ED029. THOMAS H. & BEATRICE COLVIN DUNNING. Open to a United States citizen with at least 60 hours of credit and a GPA of 2.75; must be attending the School of Polytechnic Studies and majoring in one of the following: Industrial & Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Technology. Award is renewable one time. EC038. ROBERT COX TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP. First preference to incoming freshman who has declared a major in industrial technology with an emphasis in technical graphics and shows interest in teaching industrial technology. Must be from the Southeast Missouri area. Award is not renewable. Deadline is March 1. EF011. FRIANT MEMORIAL. Open to entering freshmen whose parents or guardians are residents of and registered voters in Perry, Madison, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Stoddard, New Madrid, Pemiscot or Dunklin counties; who have declared a major in Agriculture or Agri-Business. The scholarship is renewable for agriculture students who maintain a 3.5 GPA. Deadline is August 25. EK010. CHARLES AND MARION KORNS. Open to incoming freshmen majoring in Agriculture with preference being given to students declaring an option in Horticulture. Preference will be given to students with no other scholarships.
