Preparing graduates to excel by providing a foundation of cultures, arts, languages and world views

The College of Liberal Arts consists of 10 academic departments including Art; Communication Studies; English; Foreign Languages and Anthropology; History; Mass Media; Music; Political Science, Philosophy and Religion; Psychology; and Theatre & Dance that are key contributors to the University's mission of providing professional education grounded in the liberal arts and sciences.

Also within the College are the Center for Faulkner Studies, the Center for Regional History, the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum, the University Press and Southeast Public Radio. In addition to promoting the University-wide goal of enhancing critical thinking skills in our students, faculty in the College of Liberal Arts provide students with a foundation in areas designed to prepare graduates for excelling in a world increasingly characterized by diversity and globalization.

This is accomplished not only through formal classroom instruction, but also by providing students with opportunities for study abroad and experiential learning in their major field of study.
