Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Option in General Management

The general management option is ideal for individuals aspiring to advance into upper managerial positions and holds the same AACSB accreditation as our other options available on-campus. While focusing on business administration coursework emphasizing leadership, communication, information technology and financial analysis, students learn how to manage people and resources in the global marketplace.

Option in Sport Management

The sport management option is ideal for individuals with interests in the dimensions of business related to sport management. Students graduating with this option in the MBA program will have a differential advantage in the market place related to job placement with firms interacting in Sports Management.

Option in Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurship option designed to prepare graduate business students for success in the increasingly entrepreneurial global economy. This option is for individuals choosing to create new ventures, assuming corporate entrepreneur leadership roles, or taking up management of a family firm. This program integrates conceptual classroom knowledge with practical hands-on skills through a dynamic mix of emerging information, interaction with successful entrepreneurs, and experiential development of the critical skills of innovation, market concentration, and business planning critical to all varieties of entrepreneurship.

Option in Health Administration

Health care administration and policy affects the success of all organizations. This program is designed to promote better decision making among managers by providing them with the background necessary to better understand the internal and external environments influencing health administration and health policy. Through this understanding, better decisions are made and organizational success is enhanced. Students graduating with this option in the MBA program will have a differential advantage in the market place related to job placement with firms interacting in the local health sector of business.

Master of Science in Management

The Master of Science in Management degree is especially well suited for people who do not have a major in business administration at the undergraduate level, but are employed in positions with managerial responsibilities. The additional management training will allow supervisors to better perform in their current position and advance to mid-level managerial positions and beyond. This degree is ideal for people who want to prepare for a career in business, gain industry specific knowledge, enhance career potential, boost advancement opportunities, and desire career services assistance.

Master of Science in Healthcare Management

The Master of Science in Healthcare Management is designed for people who are currently in or are seeking a position in the healthcare field at the management level. The curriculum is relevant to a variety of areas in the healthcare field. The healthcare training will allow managers to better perform in their current position and advance to managerial positions within the healthcare areas of their community.

Master of Science (MS) in Criminal Justice

The MS in Criminal Justice is a cooperative program offered by Southeast Missouri State University and Missouri Southern State University. Courses focus on the practical application of assessing programs and policies, conducting evaluative research and understanding complex legal issues relevant to the field of criminal justice. This degree is best suited to people currently working in the criminal justice field.

Master of Arts in Elementary Education

The Master of Arts in Elementary Education is an online graduate degree that offers three emphasis areas: Reading, Math/Science, and Early Childhood Education. The program is designed to help classroom teachers deepen their teaching skills and knowledge in their field of expertise, or expand their background into a new teaching area and/or certification. (Note: this graduate program does not lead to an initial teaching certification, but does offer an advanced teaching certificate as a Reading Specialist). The graduate program in Elementary Education has 33 credit hours of course work, with all classes online, making the program convenient for busy classroom teachers.

Master of Arts in Exceptional Child Education

The Master of Arts in Exceptional Child Education at Southeast Missouri State University is online graduate degree that offers three emphasis areas: Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical, Autism, and Early Childhood Special Education. This program is designed to support general classroom teachers in their work with students with special needs in their classroom, help special education teachers deepen their teaching skills and knowledge in their field of expertise, or offer additional teaching certification. (Note: this graduate program does not lead to an initial teaching certificate, but does offer an add-on certificate in Early Childhood Special Education). The graduate program in Exceptional Child Education has 33 credit hours of course work, with all classes online, making the program convenient for busy classroom teachers.

Master of Arts in Secondary Education (MA in Education)

Option in Educational Technology

The MA in Educational Technology is an online degree program designed for individuals desiring to integrate effective technology into instructional and training settings. Graduate students will combine educational theory, research, instructional strategies, assessment methods and new technology skills into projects and activities to maximize learning.

Applicants must be accepted by the School of Graduate Studies and have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and a valid teaching certificate are not required.

Option in Educational Studies

The MA in Educational Studies is an online graduate degree program designed for individuals desiring to advance their pedagogical knowledge in a variety of areas. Students have the option of taking 18 credit hours of online courses and a choice of integrating 15 credit hours from a variety of sources to create a degree program which meets the needs of each individual student: i.e. Autism Certificate, Advanced Placement, specific content, professional development courses, and/or over areas of interest. This program allows graduate students to combine educations in theory, research, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and new technology skills into projects and activities to maximize learning.

Applicants must be accepted by the School of Graduate Studies and have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and a valid teaching certificate are not required.

Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA in TESOL)

The MA in TESOL is ideal for individuals interested in teaching English as a second language, including work with children in pre-school through high school, in adult education programs with refugees and immigrants or in college and university programs. Practical application of classroom theory is emphasized as students design a program of language instruction for their own particular setting and then learn to adapt and assess it as they progress through the degree.

Master of Science in Technology Management

The Master of Science in Technology Management program at Southeast incorporates appropriate theories and practices utilized in "real-world" applications for addressing the needs of modern industries. It is designed to serve technical managers, production supervisors, engineers, technicians, and similar individuals to prepare for or enhance their leadership positions in industry and related enterprises. The program is offered in both, full-time and part-time formats. Upon completing the program, graduates will develop the ability to implement systems, increase productivity, and improve product and/or service quality.
