Michele Tanz truly exemplifies the characteristics associated with high quality teaching. For the past four semesters, she has mentored students as a clinical teaching assistant. Michele's responsibilities include working closely with students in the hospital setting with hands-on nursing care. Because she is also in the nurse practitioner program, she is able to bring a unique perspective as she works with our students.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, Michele also serves as a tutor and assists senior students prepare for the national licensing exam. Student evaluations of Michele have an overwhelming focus on her knowledge, skills, caring, professionalism, and ability to help students understand without making them feel uncomfortable. She is dedicated to teaching students, has very high standards, and yet treats students with respect.

Michele uses humor but at all times remains a role model for professionalism and knowledgeable caring. These qualities are so important because students are impressionable and are overwhelmed at times with what is expected of them. The Department of Nursing is fortunate to have Michele Tanz as a graduate assistant.
