About the Program

This unique program is a partnership between Southeast Missouri State University and Missouri Southern State University to provide persons with a convenient and easily accessible opportunity to complete advanced study in criminal justice. Participating students will enroll in online classes offered by faculty from both institutions in a fixed rotation covering six consecutive academic terms: four semesters and two summer terms. All courses in the program are offered online, permitting students to complete their studies wherever they have access to the internet. The program offers students fully interactive learning experiences through well-designed course web pages that foster interaction between students and faculty.

Application Forms

Individuals seeking admission to the program must do so through the School of Graduate Studies at Southeast Missouri State University.

Admission Criteria:

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited university
  • Have an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have completed 18 total credits in the social sciences, including criminal justice, criminology, sociology, psychology, social work, political science or relevant general studies courses. These credits must include the following: introduction to criminal justice (3 hours), criminal law (3 hours) and statistics (3 hours).
  • Submit a letter of intent addressing preparation for graduate study, ability to succeed at the graduate level, and professional goals and objectives. The letter should address what the applicant expects to achieve through graduate level study in his/her intended program of study. The letter of intent should be typed and a maximum of 750 words in length.
