If you were to ask Southeast senior Matt Kruzynski what a typical day was like at his summer internship, you might hear him say, “I saw a triple play happen on the field at Busch Stadium, witnessed a pitching duel between Houston Astros pitcher Roger Clemens and St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Mark Mulder, and then gave an updated list of baseball stats to Mike Shannon.”

Baseball fans anxiously file into Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium to cheer on the Kane County Cougars to another victory. There couldn’t be a more qualified person to work in Admissions than Southeast graduate student Jeff Kohlberg. Jeff, a St. Louis native, is a graduate assistant in the Office of Admissions. Before starting the Master of Business Administration program, Jeff attended Southeast as an undergraduate student.

Mary Virginia Moore Johnson
Mary Virginia Moore Johnson is a woman with an extreme past, and an extremely bright future. A professor in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law at Southeast, Johnson teaches law courses - and with good reason.

Judy Wiles
Dr. Judy Wiles managed and co-owned a regional advertising agency and promotional products firm, where for 10 years, she enjoyed working full time in the world of marketing communications. But the desire to be a part of a community of advanced learning brought Wiles to the next stage of her career—teaching marketing and advertising at the college level.

The next time you are shopping at Westfield Shoppingtown in Cape Girardeau, Mo., you stand a good chance of running into Southeast alumnus Paul Dobbins. Paul is a Cape Girardeau native and graduated from Southeast in May of 2003 with a degree in management information systems and marketing.

President Ron Unterriener takes great pride in solving his clients’ problems—making them feel comfortable and secure during the construction process. He must eliminate hassles for his current customers while generating new clients for his firm. Customer service is vital to his company and is the cornerstone of Unterreiner’s business philosophy.

Erika Williams
When it comes to success, Southeast alumna Erika Williams means business. Erika graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, La., with a degree in business administration in 2002. A native of St. Louis, she chose to attend Southeast to complete her MBA in general management. During her two-year enrollment, she worked as a graduate assistant for the Office of University Relations, completed several internships, traveled abroad extensively for work and pleasure and served a term as president of the MBA Association. Now, she is the assistant general manager of the Westfield Shoppingtown in Crestwood, Mo.

Dr. Keith Russell
Dr. Keith Russell’s appearance is fascinating to school children, at least to a group of children he recently encountered during a consulting assignment in Shanghai, China. “I was getting out of the car and felt a tug on my sleeve,” Russell said. “I turned around and was surrounded by a group of school children. They were fascinated with my beard and that I was an American,” he laughed.

If you were to ask Dr. Patricia Karathanos about her published writings, you may not get the standard academic response you would expect from a faculty member in the College of Business. While other professors will inevitably begin talking about their latest research-journal article, Dr. Karathanos might tell you about the various books in which she has had poems published over the last 25 years.
