The Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel was bustling with activity on September 26-27, 2013 as 63 students and 38 companies networked together at St. Louis Interview/Networking Days. On Thursday evening, an informal reception was held where students were able to informally meet and network with not only company representatives that were interviewing the next day. This reception has proven to be a very rewarding experience for companies who want to pre-screen students prior to the formal interview process on Friday, as well as identify other students to add to their interview schedule. Company representatives quickly find themselves surrounded by students who are eager to find out more about their company and their work environment.
At least 430 first-time interviews were conducted in the fast paced, 30-minute intervals on Friday. With the 5-minute warning bell, it’s almost like speed dating but with more meaningful and rewarding results based on the reports we receive from students who are getting call backs and second interviews. Every year a number of students obtain full time employment based on this important networking event. And that’s what it is all about, helping students to get connected with companies looking for new dedicated and industrious employees.
Individual interviewing booths were available on Friday for each company to conduct their interviews. The Harrison College of Business team was instrumental in keeping the ball rolling by escorting students to their scheduled interviews at each booth.
Very organized, very well prepared candidates. I give this event an A++, was definitely the best College Fair I’ve been to.
Such an unique event – we loved this experience and the SEMO faculty and staff have worked so hard to put this on! Thanks for your effort.
All around fantastic event! Looking forward to next year! The students look sharp! They have great introduction handshakes and greetings! Resumes look awesome! Escort is a fabulous touch! Love the 5 minute warning bell!
In all I had a good knowledge from what the professionals were looking out for. It also offered me the opportuhity to network going forward in my job search a year before I complete my program.
This is a great program: Please continue working hard to make this as popular of a program as possible.
Wonderful event. Everything ran smooth and it was very well planned. I would like to see more companies in the future and more student participation so that it is an event that is well known across campus and something our students and businesses look forward too.
I felt like the entire experience was incredibly valuable. It was a great chance to network, gain insight into the “real world”, and improve interviewing skills.
