Record-Breaking 2007 St. Louis Interview Days Highlights Awesome! That one word sums up St. Louis Interview Days 2007. The Harrison College of Business broke records in the number of companies which attended, students who attended, and the number of interviews conducted in this annual event designed to connect students getting ready to graduate with companies looking for future employees. Around 90 representatives from 35 companies participated in the reception Thursday evening, Sept. 27, and/or at the 41 interviewing booth spaces at the Holiday Inn South County Center Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. And there were 99 enthusiastic business students eager to meet with them and hopefully wrangle extra interviews. And they were successful, as over 70 interviews were added to the already over-flowing schedule on Friday. Interviewing was originally scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., with an hour break for lunch. But we ended up with students interviewing at 7:30 a.m., through the lunch hour, and up to and including 5 p.m. We have been able to track over 500 interviews conducted on Friday! Awesome! Be sure to check out the photos scattered throughout this article. It was fast-paced, challenging, and yes, at-times crowded, as we maxed out all the space available. But the very capable Harrison College of Business staff stayed on top of it and kept things running smoothly. Awesome just seems too small of a word to describe such an incredible event that benefited students and companies. Listed below are just some of the many comments received by company representatives:
And students comments were just as positive: “This was a great opportunity to meet with employers that recent college grads may not always get to do…..This is a great program and I am grateful the college of business offers it.” “I felt like the St. Louis Interview Days were a tremendous success. I was put in contact with employers that may have been difficult to get a foot in the door with.” “I would recommend this to anyone that has the chance to go….I think it was great!” “I loved that SEMO puts on the event, and it was very rewarding getting to meet with employers.” “I thought this event was really a great experience and I would not change a thing.” “The companies that participated were really major and seemed to be interested in hiring someone and not just there.” “It was a good way of helping students in their job search.” “This event showed me that SEMO really wants to see their students succeed.”
Companies that participated this year included: Planning for next year’s event is already underway as we begin searching for larger facilities to house a growing event. Next year promises to be even bigger and better. Awesome! |
