MBA Association

The MBA Association of the Harrison College of Business was co-founded in late August, 2000, by the director of the MBA program, Dr. Ken Heischmidt, and former president of the MBA Association, Jesper Noer (MBA General Management/BSBA International Business), who is now a consultant with Accenture.

Soon after receiving recognition by the Student Government at Southeast Missouri State University, the membership body of the MBA Association grew rapidly. Currently, approximately 84 students are actively associated with the organization and this number is constantly increasing as the MBA program is continuing its expansion.

The purpose of the MBA Association can be found in its mission statement.  But in brief terms, the purpose is to make life easier for students in the pursuant of a graduate business degree.  The MBA Association recognizes that building a solid network of social and professional contacts throughout one's college career builds a more successful business future.  Therefore, the MBA Association strives to provide great opportunities for its excellent student body to expand their horizons both professionally and socially.

These networking events consists of professional speakers, social gatherings with faculty and business people and community service intended to help the surrounding community.

The MBA Association meets formally and informally throughout the year. On September 5, they enjoyed a “Welcome Back” picnic at Cape Place. The weather was beautiful and the company was excellent. MBA students, faculty and exchange students enjoyed their time together.

During October, the MBA Association, Harrison College of Business and the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies proudly presented an Entrepreneurial Forum with three guest entrepreneur panelists who spoke on  “Life and Career as an Entrepreneur.”  The association also hosted its second social at Buckner’s.

During November, the MBA Association hosted its third social at Nick’s Sports Pub, as well as sold tickets and volunteered for the annual Westfield Works Wonders charity extravaganza.  In addition to charity work, the MBA Association participated in co-ed intramural volleyball.

The MBA Association also volunteered at the City of Roses’ Music Festival and participated in Homecoming Weekend October 3-4.
