Dr. Kim is an assistant professor of Recreation and Sport Management at Southeast Missouri State University. He teaches courses in both the Recreation and Sport Management areas. These courses include Research Methods, Sporting Event Management, Sport and Recreation Facility Management, Recreational Sport Management and Programming for Recreation Services.
Dr. Kim’s research is focused on three main areas in the study of sport management and leisure studies: (1) management issues in sport and recreation organizations, (2) studies for marginalized populations in the sport and leisure industry, especially for older adults (e.g. baby boomers) and people with disabilities, and (3) research methods and measurement issues in the sport management and leisure fields.
His work has been published in a variety of academic journals, including: International Journal of Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism, Sport Marketing Quarterly, International Journal of Sport Marketing and Sponsorship, International Journal of Sport Management, Managing Leisure, and International Journal on Disability and Human Development.
Dr. Kim has also presented his research at a leading recreation conference, as well as at sport management conferences, including the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA), Sport Marketing Association (SMA), North American Society of Sport Management (NASSM), and the National Intramural Sports Association (NIRSA).
