Southeast Missouri State University

Mission Statement

The mission of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Southeast Missouri State University is to provide a high quality, professional undergraduate education through didactic and experiential learning that meets the standards outlined by ACEND in order to prepare students for acceptance into dietetic internship programs, graduate programs, or related entry level positions.

Overview

Dietetics is the high-tech science of applying food and nutrition to health. The dietetics program at Southeast provides a curriculum that meets the knowledge and skills established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

As a dietetic student, you will receive hands-on experience and provide community service by giving nutrition education to senior citizens, delivering Meals-on-Wheels, participating in health fairs, working in university food service or rotating through local hospitals working side-by-side with registered dietitians.

Southeast’s dietetic internship program offers “real world” experience at various supervised practice sites located throughout southeast Missouri. Experience at these sites will prepare you to be a registered dietitian.
