Full Professor of Family Studies

Dr. Branscum received her bachelor of science and master's of science in child and family studies from Oklahoma State University and her Ph.D in education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.  She has taught in higher education for more than 36 years and is considered an expert in the field of gerontology and family studies. 

Dr. Branscum is a Certified Family Life Educator and has received numerous awards for teaching and service.  In addition, she has received in excess of $15 million in funded grants, state contracts and fees generated from services.  Her interests and specialties include gerontology, grant writing, community development, working with disabled young adults and life long learning.
