Department of Nursing Celebrating 50th Anniversary During Homecoming Weekend CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 22, 2008 – The Department of Nursing at Southeast Missouri State University is celebrating 50 years of nursing education during Homecoming events Oct. 25 on campus. Nursing graduates are invited to bring their families and join their classmates, nursing colleagues and faculty as they meet on the steps of the Wehking Alumni Center to watch the Homecoming parade. The parade is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and travels east on Broadway from West End Blvd. The Department of Nursing is expected to have 10 entries in this year's parade. Following the parade, nursing graduates may participate in a number of tours, including: • A tour of Academic Dome led by Dr. Frank Nickell, director of the Center for Regional History
After the luncheon, nursing alumni and students are invited to attend the Homecoming football game during which the Southeast Redhawks will take on Tennessee State at 1 p.m. at Houck Stadium. Reserved/block seating is available. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for youths ages 6-18. Tickets for children five and under are free. Tickets may be purchased from the Southeast Athletics Department by calling (573) 651-2113 and request the Nursing Section Block of seating. Also during the weekend, commemorative nursing posters of the Department of Nursing's first 50 years will be available for purchase with profits benefiting Southeast's nursing programs. |
