Awarded to Human Environmental Studies major who shows evidence of merit, need and achievement in understanding literature and history, as well as in human environmental studies. First preference will be given to students from Wayne County or bordering counties in Missouri. Deadline is March 1.

Open to students pursuing a degree in Human Environmental Studies, Family and Consumer Science Education, Dietetics, Food Services, or Hospitality Management with at least half-time enrollment. Entering freshmen must have a 2.5 high school GPA. Deadline is March 1.

ER011. LUCILE FARRAR RUSSELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Open to Human Environmental Studies (Home Economics) majors at any year level. Award is based on academic merit and can vary to meet the financial need of the student, but cannot exceed the established University budget for a single student. Applicants must submit a FAFSA. In-coming college Senior chosen by Social Work faculty as having overcome the "greatest odds" to completion. Deadline March 1.

EA019. MARGARET WOODS ALLEN ADDICTIONS NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

The Margaret Woods Allen Addictions Nursing Scholarship shall be an annual spring award in the amount of $500 based on essays submitted in the spring semester of each academic year and shall be awarded at the spring semester recognition ceremony for the following fall semester. The winning essay will be determined by the Office of Addictions Board of Directors. Application guidelines are as follows: 1. Applicants must be currently enrolled as students in good standing in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program of the Nursing Department at Southeast Missouri State University. 2. Five copies of the essay and one set of copies of works cited in the essay shall be submitted to the Office of Addictions secretary prior to the start of Spring Break each spring semester. The secretary shall distribute a copy of each essay submitted to the Office of Addictions to the Board of Director (BOD) members on the Monday following Spring Break of each year. BOD members will have access to each essay’s supportive materials should they need to check applicant citations in essay texts. The BOD members will review the essays, and they shall meet as a group to make the final decision as to which essay should be awarded the scholarship. 3. Essays must be written in APA format, be the original work of the student submitting the work, demonstrate correct spelling and grammar, and clearly address a topic related to addictions nursing. 4. Essays should be typewritten and no longer than 10 pages (excluding title page and references) in length. Essay is to be submitted to Heather Minks in Crisp Hall 306A no later than March 11, 2012 in order to be considered for the scholarship.

EC003. CAPE COUNTY FRIENDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT

Applicants must have junior status, a declared major in Criminal Justice, maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and have graduated from any high school in Cape Girardeau County. Financial need verified by FAFSA may be a consideration. Deadline is March 1.

EC004. CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY AREA MEDICAL SOCIETY ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Open to students who have been admitted to the Nursing program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and financial need verified by FAFSA. Must reapply each year. Deadline is March 1.

EC006. CARDIN MEMORIAL

Will be awarded to an outstanding sophomore after his/her two semesters in the Air Force ROTC Cadet Corps, and will be activated in the fall semester of their respective sophomore year. The student must have a cum GPA of 2.50 at the conclusion of the spring semester of his/her freshman year. A cadet can only be awarded the scholarship for one academic year. In the event that no eligible sophomore cadet has applied, the scholarship will be awarded to a first semester junior who is in the Professional Officer Corps (a contracted cadet that is not on scholarship). The student must have cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the conclusion of the spring semester of his/her sophomore year. Deadline is March 1.

EC025. ALETA MCDOWELL CRAWFORD HOME ECONOMICS

Open to promising Human Environmental Studies majors. Applicants must complete 45 credit hours with a GPA of 2.5. Criteria include promise of success in human environmental studies; good standing with the University; financial need verified by FAFSA; and an interest in human environmental education or in foods and nutrition. Open to Nursing students who have 30 credit hours at time of application. Selection will be based on scholarship, promise of success in the field of study, and financial need verified by FAFSA. Deadline is March 1.

EH025. GRACE V. HOOVER INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Awarded to an international student majoring in a Human Environmental Studies program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Applicant must have completed 30 credits hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarship is renewable if the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1.

EK011. ERMINE KIES NURSING

Open to students who have completed prerequisite courses and have been accepted into the BSN program for Nursing. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Preference will be given to a nontraditional student. Deadline is March 1.

EK013. NEIL KEENEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Candidates should be U.S. citizens working toward degrees granted by the College of Science and Mathematics, the College of Health and Human Services or the Harrison College of Business. Selection of the scholarship recipient should be prioritized in the following order: African-American biracial, Hispanic-American, Native American and non-minorities in that order. Single parents should be given priority, if singe parents are present in the eligible pool. Preference should be given to Crawford, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and Washington county candidates in that order. If there are no qualified candidates from these counties, the award may be made to a qualifying candidate from another rural SEMO county. Deadline is March 1.

EK017. DR. PAULA R. KING SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Paula R. King, Chairperson of the Department of Human Environmental Studies. Dr. King passed away on March 28, 2011. She was born Paula Raye Smith in Neoshe, Missouri. Throughout her life she had a passion for education and the arts, combined with a love of people and animals. The recipient of this scholarship must be a major in Fashion Merchandising with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. This scholarship is renewable each year with application. Deadline is March 1.

Open to students in the B.A. Nursing program. This scholarship will be awarded to those of good, but not necessarily outstanding, academic quality. Financial need verified by FAFSA will be a consideration. Deadline is March 1.

Open to U.S. citizens majoring in Communication Disorders. Preference will be given to applicants of European descent. Deadline is March 1.

Open to undergraduate or graduate students who are Missouri residents with a 3.0 GPA and a declared major in Communication Disorders. Preference will be given to upperclassmen. Deadline is March 1.

EL019. JAMES L. LEE AND ESTHER RAY LEE MEMORIAL

Awarded to students who have been accepted into the Department of Nursing. First preference will be given to nursing students residing in Mississippi County, Missouri. If no candidates meet first preference criteria, second preference will be given to nursing students residing in the Bootheel region. Deadline is March 1.

EN004. DOROTHY LEE NILSEN SCHOLARSHIP

First preference will be given to students in good standing in the Bachelor of Science Nursing program. Student must have a GPA of 2.25 or better. Second preference will be given to students in the health sciences who have an emphasis in gerontology. Applicant must be at least a first semester junior in nursing courses. The scholarship is automatically renewable providing the applicant meets the scholarship requirements. Deadline is March 1.

Open to students who major in Physical Education, have completed 60 credit hours with a minimum overall 2.5 GPA and a 3.0 GPA in their major courses, and have a minimum ACT score of 20. A letter of recommendation from a Southeast Missouri State University faculty member must be submitted with the application. Student must have financial need determined by FAFSA. Deadline is March 1.

Open to Interior Design students with a 3.0 GPA who merit this award through academic performance. Financial need verified by FAFSA will be considered. Deadline is March 1.

Genevieve, second preference will be given to applicants from the Southeast Missouri region, and final preference will be given to residents of Missouri. Deadline is March 1.

ET004. THE DEBBIE COLLINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who has completed at least 60 hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0. They must be a resident of Wayne, Butler, Ripley, Stoddard or Carter county in Missouri. First preference will be given to a student majoring in corrections or law-enforcement. Second preference will be given to a student majoring in Social Work or Pre-Law. Deadline is March 1.

ET005. TRI-COUNTY CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD

Open to residents of Scott, New Madrid or Mississippi Counties who are majoring, or minoring, in Criminal Justice and have completed 60 semester hours with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Financial need is a determining factor. Deadline is July 15.

ET008. THE WILLIAM P. THORPE MD ATHLETIC TRAINING ENDOWED

The scholarship is for undergraduate students in their second year of the athletic training academic program with a 3.0 in their major and a 2.8 or higher cumulative GPA. Applicants/recipients must also exemplify the character and standards of excellence in athletic training by adhering to the guidelines set forth in the NATA Code of Ethics for Athletic Trainers. In addition, the applicants/recipients must 1. Adhere to and uphold the policies and procedures as set forth in the Student Athletic Trainer Standard Operating Guidelines, 2. Demonstrate professionalism and take initiative as outlined by the suggested conduct of student athletic trainers provided in the Student Athletic Trainers Operating Guidelines, and 3. The student athletic trainers must not have been placed on probation or suspension at any time. Deadline is March 1.
