Bachelor of Science in Historic Preservation
I received my Bachelors degree from Southeast Missouri State University and am currently in my second year of Graduate study. As an undergraduate, I majored in Historic Preservation and minored in Anthropology. My area of interest is American Architectural History, but I am also very interested in cultural resource management and downtown revitalization.
In the summer of 2010 I interned at the Chateau de Mores State Historic Site in Medora, ND, where I conducted oral history interviews and worked as an interpreter at the house museum on site. In the spring of 2011 I spent the semester working with the staff of Old Town Cape, Cape Girardeau’s Main Street (the downtown revitalization effort) office.
Most recently, I spent the summer working as a seasonal architectural historian at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, AK. My tentative plan for the future is to work either at a State Historic Preservation Office or in the field of cultural resource management.
In my spare time, I enjoy rock and ice climbing, backpacking, and kayaking, especially if I can do them in places I have never been before.
