First Year Redhawk Connection This Learning Community is a little bit different from the others at Southeast because it is located on more than just one floor. In fact, it spans two entire buildings! All students assigned to Towers East and Towers North are a member of this learning community, which is focused on transition issues that students face when coming to college. Programs will be designed to build a large community and support network among residents of the two buildings, as well as provide support, education, and guidance through the first year at Southeast. The program will focus very heavily on the first six weeks of the semester, and will have programs based around issues first year students face throughout the entire year. Ideally, connections will be forged between the students and the faculty involved in this program, and students will experience a smooth, successful transition to Southeast. Sample Activities (activities are not final and will be planned by staff and faculty associated with the program):
This community is limited to first year students only. Students interested in participating in this program should indicate Towers East and Towers North as their top hall preferences when completing a Contract for University Housing. There is no extra cost associated with the Learning Community Program; however, students are expected to sign and agree to a set of expectations for living in a Learning Community. This will be available shortly after you move in to the community via your Resident Assistant. The Office of Residence Life is proud to partner with the faculty and staff of Southeast Missouri State University to offer the First Year Redhawk Connection as a housing option.
