Southeast Missouri State University

Science Learning Community

The Office of Residence Life and the College of Science and Technology are proud to support the Science Themed Community/Floor which will be located on the 2nd Floor of the New Hall opening Fall 2013. This community is designed to give students the opportunity to participate in various experiential learning and community activities of interest to students in the sciences.

The College of Science and Technology is home to some of the most difficult classes that Southeast has to offer.  The partnership between the College of Science and Technology and the Office of Residence Life will create a living environment which supports and enhances the academic experience for the variety of students in the College of Science and Technology. The Science Themed Community is limited to 16 students and is open to both new and returning students. Any student who desires to participate in the Science Themed Community must indicate their preference for this community though the Contract for University Housing assignment process.

To sign up for this community, returning students should participate in the Priority Sign-Up process.  New students should indicate their preference for this community on their Contract for University Housing and then fill out and return the application that they receive in the mail.

There is no extra cost associated with the Themed Community Program; however, students are expected to sign and agree to a set of expectations for living in a Themed Community.  This will be available at the time of Priority Sign-Up (returning students) or included in the application packet (new students).

The Office of Residence Life is proud to partner with the College of Science and Technology to offer the Sciences Themed Community as a housing option.  If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Residence Life at (573) 651-2274 or learningcommunities@semo.edu
